Description: Formerly known as the Kimo South, the Overland Theatre and The Theatre for Young America, the Rio was designed by Robert Boller in the Art Deco style and first opened in 1946. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the exterior neon and glass is amazing at night. It’s “40’s Palm Beach” interior features pastel art deco bonbon including a brass chandelier, pink marble, frosted glass, illuminated palm trees and other tropical motifs. The Fine Arts Theatre Group, a business devoted to restoring and operating vintage movie houses, is dedicated to bringing unique motion picture entertainment to discriminating patrons who prefer to view films presented in classic theatres--where the show starts on the sidewalk out front.
